Pence Was ‘Manchurian Candidate’, Top Advisor Says

Ex-Vice President Mike Pence has been a “Manchurian Candidate” in the former administration, a top Trump advisor revealed.

The revealing comments came from Peter Navarro, President Trump’s former trade advisor, who also declared the former vice president is now “politically dead.”

Mike Pence ‘Not the Sharpest’

Navarro’s revelations marked a new episode in a war between Trump and his former vice president. The main source of their conflict was Pence’s refusal back on January 6, 2021 to topple the 2020 presidential election.

In recent days, Trump, once again, said Pence could have and should have overthrown the election; Pence reiterated his stance to the contrary in a speech before a conservative forum in Florida.

As Pence bluntly declared “Trump is wrong”, that enraged Trump, who issued more statements via his website, lambasting Pence over the matter.

Navarro came down strongly against Pence in one of the episodes of “The War Room”, the podcast of Steve Bannon, Trump’s close ally and former White House strategist.

Navarro’s criticism of Mike Pence described Pence as “not the sharpest” and emphasizes his disloyalty by claiming he never was “a pure Trump guy”.

Navarro further declared Pence to have been “the Manchurian candidate” in the Trump administration, as an insider unknowingly working for an outside enemy.

Trump’s former trade advisor didn’t elaborate much on the outside power that may have controlled Pence.

‘You Are Dead Politically’

At one point during his interview on Bannon’s “War Room” podcast, Navarro even addressed Mike Pence directly to declare him “dead politically”.

Pence himself hasn’t made any definitive announcements about the 2024 Republican nomination; his recent tours and event appearances indicate he may be planning to run in the GOP primaries.

Considering Trump remains the favorite for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, a Pence run seems like a very long shot.

With the war of words between him and Trump raging on, it also doesn’t seem likely at all that the latter might even consider having Pence once again as his running mate.

Nikki Haley, a Trump loyalist, also criticized Pence over his recent comments on the 2020 election certification issue, but in much milder terms than Peter Navarro.

Speaking on Tuesday on Fox News, Haley said she considers Mike Pence a “good and honest man” who did what he considered “right” on January 6, 2021.

Haley herself is also considered a potential GOP presidential nomination hopeful, but declared if Trump decides to run in 2024, she would not even try to bid for the nomination.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the January 6 committee in the House of Representatives, a panel that has been highly criticized by conservatives, subpoenaed Trump’s ex-trade advisor, Peter Navarro, to give a testimony regarding the breach of the US Capitol by Trump supporters last January.
