The courageous Ukrainian soldiers and people are putting a great fight in their terribly uneven struggle against the Russian invaders.
Ukrainian residents have inflicted heavy losses upon them as of Friday afternoon local time; the aggressors sent in by Putin are trying to conquer the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.
Ukraine is Holding Out Better Than Expected
After the Russian autocrat unleashed the full military might of his wannabe empire against the people of Ukraine on Thursday morning, Friday morning saw more Russian missile strikes and air strikes.
These are hitting civilian targets as well, not just military installations, despite the usual lies told by the government in Moscow.
The fighting is particularly fierce in the northern parts of Ukraine where the Russian invaders are trying to encircle and conquer the capital of Kyiv and the northeastern city of Kharkiv.
According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the Ukrainians have managed to down and destroy seven Russian military airplanes, six Russian attack helicopters, and more than 30 Russian tanks and 130 armored vehicles.
More than 1,000 Russian troops have been killed.

British intelligence could confirm some 450 Russian troops have been killed, while Ukraine’s combined military and civilian victims stand at 197.
Many of the destroyed Russian tanks and BMPs have been smashed by Ukrainian defenders using recently supplied US-made Javelin launchers and UK-made NLAW launchers. Both types of weapons seem to be working marvelously against Putin’s armor.
Footage posted online even showed a case in which a Russian soldier, someone named Oleg from Moscow, was captured by Ukrainian civilians.
Ukrainians interrogated him as he was bending down, hiding his face in shame, and saying they don’t want war, just peaceful life, and this is also what the Russian people want.

Ukraine Even Managed to Strike Russia’s Home Turf
In further humiliation to Moscow autocrat Putin, on Friday, Ukraine managed to strike Russia’s own territory. A Ukrainian missile strike hit a military airfield in Millerovo, Rostov region, in Southern Russia.
According to the announcements of the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian military destroyed a total of 74 Ukrainian military facilities, 11 military airfields, 18 radar stations for anti-aircraft systems, and three command posts.
The battle for Ukraine’s capital Kyiv began as of Friday morning.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called all reservists and anybody who wishes to fight to do so. More than 18,000 civilians in the capital have gone the local police stations and been issued AK-47s and munitions.
Ukraine’s former President Petro Poroshenko, a wealthy businessman, also joined a territorial defense unit in Kyiv. The defense of the city is likewise led by Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko, a former world heavyweight boxing champion.
Military experts seem to agree for the most part, Ukrainians are holding up against Putin’s massive, murderous attack. They’re doing even better than expected, considering how outnumbered and outgunned they are.
