How to Ensure You Receive Important Emails

General Instructions

To help ensure important emails from us arrive in your inbox, add our sending email address to your trusted contacts or safe senders list. Spam filters can occasionally misclassify legitimate emails, so following the steps below can help improve future email delivery.

Step 1: Check Your Spam/Junk Folder

If you can’t find an expected email, check your Spam or Junk folder. If you find it there, open the email and select Not Spam or Not Junk to help your email provider recognize similar messages in the future.

Step 2: Add the Sender to Your Safe Senders or Contacts

Follow the instructions below for your email provider to add the sender’s email address to your contacts or safe senders list.

Gmail (Web)

1. Open the email.
2. Click the three dots (⋮) next to Reply in the email header.
3. Select Add to Contacts or Filter messages like this.
4. In the filter menu, confirm the sender’s email address appears in the From field, select Never send it to Spam, then click Create filter.
5. If the email appears in the Promotions tab, drag it to the Primary tab.
6. Confirm Move future messages to Primary when prompted.

Gmail (Mobile App)

1. Check the Promotions or Spam folder for the email.
2. Open the email and tap the three dots (⋮).
3. Select Move to > Primary or Report not spam.
4. Optionally, mark the email as important.

Outlook.com (Hotmail, Live, MSN)

1. Open the email. If Outlook displays an option to trust the sender or always show content, select it.
2. Go to Settings > View all Outlook settings > Mail > Junk email.
3. Under Safe senders, add the sender’s email address and click Add.

Outlook (Desktop: 2016, 2019, Microsoft 365)

1. Right-click the email.
2. Select Junk > Never Block Sender or Never Block Sender’s Domain.
3. Click OK.

Outlook (Mobile)

1. Open the email.
2. Tap the three dots (⋮).
3. Select Move to Focused Inbox, then choose Move this and all future messages.

Yahoo! Mail / AT&T Yahoo Mail

1. Click the gear icon and select More Settings > Filters.
2. Click Add new filter.
3. In the From field, enter the sender’s email address.
4. Choose Inbox as the destination folder and click Save.

AOL Mail

1. Open the email.
2. Click the sender’s email address or name in the From field.
3. Select Add Contact and save the contact.

Apple Mail (macOS)

1. Open Mail and go to the Junk mailbox.
2. Find the email and select Mark as Not Junk.
3. Go to Mail > Settings > Rules.
4. Create a new rule.
5. Set the condition to match the sender’s email address or domain.
6. Set the action to Move Message to Inbox.
