Star Wars actor Mark Hamill sparked outrage after posting an image depicting President Donald Trump dead in a grave, just days after appearing alongside Barack Obama to promote the former president’s Chicago library. The gravestone in Hamill’s post lists Trump’s death year as 2024, the same year a would-be assassin’s bullet narrowly missed Trump’s skull in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Disturbing Timing After Assassination Attempts
Hamill’s May 2026 post came after multiple thwarted assassination attempts against the president. The graphic depicts Trump’s grave surrounded by daisies with birth and death years 1946-2024. “If Only,” Hamill wrote, adding Trump should “live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms” and be “held accountable for his unprecedented corruption.” The Butler shooting killed devoted father Corey Comperatore while Trump escaped with a nicked ear.
Obama Library Promotion Days Earlier
The disturbing fantasy followed a May 4 Star Wars Day video where Hamill stood beside Obama promoting his presidential center. The pair exchanged groan-inducing jokes about young people seeking adventure, with Obama pitching his Juneteenth grand opening rather than the rebellion themes of Luke Skywalker’s fictional journey. The promotional appearance made Hamill’s subsequent death wish post even more jarring to observers.
White House Responds to Violent Rhetoric
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt condemned the left’s pattern of violent rhetoric after another foiled assassination attempt. “Nobody in recent years has faced more bullets and more violence than President Trump,” she stated, pointing to “systemic demonization” by commentators and elected Democrats. Leavitt noted the latest suspect’s manifesto echoed mainstream anti-Trump talking points, asking how different the assassin’s words were from daily social media attacks.
Pattern of Celebrity Hatred
Hamill’s public fantasies about Trump’s demise represent a disturbing trend among Hollywood figures. The actor has maintained consistent hostility toward the president for years, but publicly wishing for his death crosses a dangerous line. The manifesto from the most recent assassination attempt stated the suspect would go through attendees at Trump events “if absolutely necessary,” calling them complicit for supporting “a pedophile, rapist, and traitor”—language mirroring rhetoric from prominent Democrats and media personalities.
