Trump Drops Iran Bombshell at G7

Trump flew straight from a White House confrontation to the G7 summit in France, where he announced the U.S.-Iran deal is “all signed” — and promised to release the full text to the world.

Story Snapshot

  • Trump declared the U.S.-Iran deal complete at the G7 summit, saying the Strait of Hormuz is already partially open and will be fully open by Friday.
  • The deal requires Iran to never build a nuclear weapon, dismantle its nuclear program, and stop funding terrorist groups — with no money released until Iran complies.
  • A formal signing ceremony is set for June 19 in Switzerland, and Trump promised the full deal text will be made public after signing.
  • French President Emmanuel Macron praised the deal and pledged France’s support, despite past European tension over U.S. Iran policy.

Trump Announces Deal at G7 After Whirlwind Trip

President Trump arrived in France for the Group of Seven (G7) summit on June 15, 2026, just hours after a heated confrontation back at the White House. He wasted no time. Meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump declared the U.S.-Iran deal “all signed” and said the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most critical shipping lanes — was already partially open. He predicted it would be fully open by Friday.

Macron welcomed Trump warmly, calling him a “special friend” and praising the Iran agreement. He pledged France’s support, a notable shift given that European allies had previously clashed with Trump over Iran policy. The two leaders discussed Iran, Ukraine, and trade during their meeting at the summit.

What the Deal Actually Requires Iran to Do

The agreement — known as a memorandum of understanding — sets hard conditions on Iran. Under the deal’s reported terms, Iran must never build a nuclear weapon, fully dismantle its nuclear program, remove all enriched uranium stockpiles from the country, and stop funding terrorist groups. Critically, Iran gets no money until it carries out every term. Trump stated the deal includes “strong policing powers” to enforce compliance.

A senior Trump administration official described this as a five-point, performance-based framework. Economic benefits for Iran — including some sanctions relief and access to frozen assets — would only kick in as Tehran delivers on its promises. The Strait of Hormuz must reopen immediately and without tolls, with shipping levels restored to pre-war levels within 30 days. In exchange, the U.S. would lift its naval blockade tied to that restoration.

Signing Ceremony Set, Full Text Coming

The formal signing is scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who served as a key go-between in the talks, confirmed the ceremony and said preparations for an electronic signing were underway. Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister confirmed the memorandum’s text was finalized and said the full document would be released publicly after signing.

Iran’s state media had earlier tried to release its own version of the deal text, but the White House shot that down fast, calling it “a complete fabrication” and warning that “no one should trust information from Iranian state media.” Trump himself called Iran “dishonorable” for misrepresenting the deal in public. The real text, the administration says, will speak for itself once released. A 60-day window follows the initial signing, during which broader nuclear talks will continue. Trump also predicted the deal would cause a significant drop in global energy prices — good news for American families still feeling the pinch at the pump.

  1. Doubt terms will be enforced prior to November elections.. Only then will Iran no longer have that to hold over Trump and Republican heads.
